DP/30: Jehane Noujaim On ‘The Square’

Jehane Noujaim was already near Tahrir Square in Cairo when the Egyptian Revolution started in 2011; this would become the subject of her latest documentary The Square.  I missed out on seeing the film at Film Forum in NYC last October but luckily I managed to see the most updated version of the film at a private screening last month (the updated version included political developments that occurred in Egypt during 2013).  When the Academy Award nominations were announced, this was one of the five films to receive a deserved nod for Best Documentary Feature (and only the second nominated film I’ve seen from this category).  David Poland sat down with Noujaim last December to discuss the film.  It’s a fascinating listen, and I hope you enjoy this video:
