75 Years of Superman: Who’s Batman? Ben Affleck IS Batman!

Well, it’s official.  Two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck will portray Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which is slated to open in July 2015 and will be a box office hit simply for being the first live action feature film to finally feature Superman and Batman together in the SAME film (plus I’m sure it’ll also tell a good story).  Quite honestly, Affleck is a perfect choice for the role.  He has the range to pull off the dual role, and this wouldn’t be the first comic book-based film he’s been involved with.  He portrayed Matt Murdock/Daredevil in 2003’s Daredevil and George Reeves (who portrayed Clark Kent/Superman in the 1950s TV show The Adventures of Superman) in 2006’s Hollywoodland.  He also played a comic book artist who falls in love with a lesbian in 1997’s Chasing Amy).  Affleck has also been rumored as Warner Bros.’ top choice to direct the Justice League movie, and if they do actually offer it to him, I hope he takes it.  The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in May and the Man of Steel sequel featuring Superman AND Batman opens in July; can 2015 get any bigger?

  1. I think this is a terrible idea!

    • That’s what people said about Michael Keaton when he was cast as Batman in 1989′s Batman, Heath Ledger when he was cast as the Joker in 2008′s The Dark Knight, and Anne Hathaway when she was cast in 2012′s The Dark Knight Rises. They all turned out to be great choices. Have faith in Affleck’s casting. I know he’s going to nail it.

      • The pressure will either making him give the greatest performance of his life or crush him. I suppose we’ll see. I am toning down my massive disappointment until I see the trailer 😀
