DP/30: Greg Russell On the Sound of ‘Skyfall’

Skyfall opened last November to critical acclaim and has grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, becoming the most successful James Bond film ever.  It also became the first Bond film in over 30 years to receive an Academy Award nomination (it received a new franchise record of five nominations).  One of those nominations was for Best Sound Mixing.  One of the recipients of that nomination is sound re-recording mixer Greg Russell (this marks his 16th nomination overall with zero wins).  Russell recently sat down with DP/30 to discuss the sound of Skyfall and his work with director Sam Mendes.  It’s quite a fascinating listen, and I hope you enjoy this video:
